What a Day! What an Election! Yo, Barack!

Thank you, Barack Obama, for undertaking such a long and exhausting run for the presidency, and for your moving and inspiring acceptance speech. Congratulations, and best wishes and prayers.

Thank you, all the supporters who helped make this happen for all of us.

Thank you, John McCain, for your gracious and forward-looking concession speech.

Thank you, America.

Oh, and...thanks, Starbucks, for the free cup of coffee. :)

I stayed up until about 12:30 watching all the action. I took nothing for granted and was still surprised when the final tallies were announced. There are still several races still being counted/recounted...very interesting stuff indeed!

I used the election as an excuse to take Wednesday off, so I watched more coverage on and off while I started on Neal Stephenson's Anathem.

I heard on the radio that Kenya declared a national holiday in celebration of Obama's election. I also got a message of congratulations and joy from an SF fan in Germany.

I grew up in a very "blue state" (NY) but lived in the sorta red part (upstate) and then moved to a very red state (IN) and then for the first time since 1964 it turned blue! The kinda cool thing was this might've been the first time where I actually felt like my vote actually might've counted for something on a national level. When I lived in NY I always knew that the Democrat was going to win the state I lived in no matter how I voted and when I moved to IN I always knew the Republican was going to win my state no matter how I voted, but then this time things changed, kinda cool. I just hope Barack can be a good president, it's going to be tough, he has a whole lot of hype to live up to unfortunately.

it's self-created hype though. I hope he can be a good president too.
