Coming Personal Appearances
For those of you in eastern Massachusetts or southern New Hampshire, or...okay, for those of you in the continental U.S., or neighboring countries...
The evening of October 30 will find me moderating a panel at the University of Massachusetts Lowell campus, called "We May Be On to Something Here (Science Fiction in the 21st Century)." Part of the Concord Festival of Authors, the panel will also include Craig Shaw Gardner, new writer Chris Howard, Alexander Jablokov, and Matt Jarpe. We'll kick off at 7:30 p.m., jawbone interestingly with each other and the audience for a while, then segue into a book signing hosted by the university bookstore. This will be my first opportunity to sign Sunborn—and in all likelihood the first time I will have set eyes on the actual book myself.
If you can't make that—or even if you can—you'll have another chance to say hello and pick up a signature on a shiny new hardcover (if that appeals to you, and why wouldn't it?) on Saturday, November 8, from 4-7 p.m. The venue will be a little different this time; I'll be signing at Arlington's Menotomy Beer and Wine store, while a free wine-tasting swirls around me. The wine tastings are a popular event at the store, and it's a great bunch of people, with some interesting wines. Stop by and say hi!
Another signing is tentatively planned for later in November, but more about that when details firm up.
And don't forget: you can download the first three novels of the Chaos Chronicles for free in ebook form, so even if you haven't read them yet, you can grab them now and be all up to speed for Sunborn. Go for it!

A little Amazon birdie just told me that Sunborn is shipping :) I'll be putting down Michener's Texas novel when it arrives on Monday.
Cool. I thought they weren't shipping until tomorrow. But what do I know?
hmmmm....when I check amazon they say they are "estimating" they will be shipping mine tomorrow, so I wasn't expecting it to show up until wed or thurs. Anyway no problem for me if they really did ship it already and it gets here early. I just finished re-reading the first three chaos books last wednesday and I haven't started anything else because I just want to continue the flow. I know it's been about 10 years since I first read books 1 thru 3 but I was really surprised how many things I had forgotten and even weirder still is the book I seemed to remember the best was Neptune Crossing. Strange Attractors seemed to have the most "wow I completely don't remember that part at all" moments and Infinite Sea somewhere in between. Funny how the mind works, but it was fun getting re-aquainted with Chaos!

I've been wanting to reread the first 3 novels, but I was never able to find the time...too many books, too little time!
*blink* It's made it from Nashville to Atlanta since yesterday and will be at my office tomorrow. I only paid for standard UPS shipping too!
>> will be at my office tomorrow.
That means you'll probably see my new book before I do! :)
When my first novel was published, my first glimpse of it--indeed, even of the cover art--was when I ran into a local SF fan on the street and he pulled out a copy to show me.
Marco, I've been meaning to reread the earlier books myself, because I keep forgetting the details. And I've had that same reaction of, "I don't remember this part at all." !!
Just got home from work to find Sunborn waiting for me! Yay! I see you got some nice comments from the likes of Jack McDeviit, Robert J. Sawyer and Kevin J. Anderson among others on the back cover too.
