Sunborn Excerpt Now Online!
By popular request (well, by request of one or two people, anyway), I have uploaded the first three chapters of Sunborn, so you can get a taste of what's coming. I finished the final final final drop-dead revisions on the early chapters last week, and it should be going into production shortly. (Going into production, of course, means that it'll be out in a year. But even if I drop dead now, the book will survive me. Which, er, ought to be some consolation.)

woohoo! I had some dead time at work this morning while monitoring a distance education session, so I was able to read it and am really looking forward to the release date now. I'm thankful for some of the backstory, b/c those memories are a bit foggy :)
This is excellent. Although I am not a longtime fan or anything, I have just recently finished that "Writing Science Fiction And Fantasy" course you put up online. And I can't thank you enough.
I am an aspiring, very apsiring, young writer but with all the tools you have given me I am sure that I am on the right path.

Great to see that you've put the exerpt of Sunborn up. I've really been wanting to read it, but our wedding is saturday followed by two weeks of honeymoon so life's been crazy! Maybe i'll print it out and stick it in my suitcase and read it on the cruiseship somewhere between the chapters of my continuing Dune marathon. (I've gotten up to Chapterhouse Dune, which is the last one Frank Herbert wrote). Anyway i'll get to it sometime and let you know what I think when I get back.

What a shame the book's publication was delayed to the "fall" of 2008. I enjoyed the excerpt; I'm definitely looking forward to the book itself as well as the remaining two books in the series. [You are working on The Reefs of Time currently, no?]
Just got back from the cruise portion of my honeymoon and I did read the excerpt while sitting on a warm sunny cruise ship balcony. So automatically i'm going to have warm sunny memories associated with that book already! Which considering the subject matter seems appropriate! It was definitely a good set-up for the story, i'll be looking foward to reading the rest next year!

I'm so happy to see this progress. I know I'm a little late to the party, but while I used to check status on a monthly basis, I've been down to nearly annual lately, so only just now found out that the book is finally on its way! I own the first three (and those were in the days that I was at the library every week, so the fact that I bought them should tell you something), and can't wait to sink my teeth into this one.
I'm torn, though. Should I read the first three chapters you've been so kind as to post for us, or should I take the time to go re-read those three glorious original books to prepare myself, first? My memories are getting foggy.
Decisions, decisions.
Anyway, I can't thank you enough again for proceeding with this. You don't know how worried I've been over the years that this tale would never continue. This is a happy day for me.

I guess I can't help you with the read-now/reread-and-wait decision. (Oh sure, go ahead and take a peek! What can it hurt, eh?)
Your memories aren't the only ones getting foggy. I have to keep going back to check on things you'd think I'd know off the top of my head!
